I spoke to a few home insurance companies when renewing last year and when I mentioned having individual items worth £3000+ none of them were interested in insuring them.
I have used http://www.piriform.com/recuva/download, but watch which download link you use one of them tries to install other programs, I think the piriform link is the correct one.
I have used http://www.cardrecovery.com/ in a similar situation with some success.
You have to pay for the software but you can try it before you purchase.
I have had a couple of repairs done by them and found they are not good at keeping you up to date, I needed a part for a lens that was not in stock and was going to take 4 weeks to come in, I only found this out when I rang after 2 weeks to ask where the lens was.
If you are photographing during the ceremony I would check what you are allowed to do, I recently photographed during the ceremony and the conditions were no flash and I had to stand at the back and not move around, I was allowed to use a tripod which helped with the light levels.

I have been lent equipment by friends and have loaned then equipment back in return. A great way to try before buying.
If I am with a group I don't mind people trying a lens as long as I am there to see what is happening.
