I have a themed wordpress site and, I want to create a single blank page that I can design myself, without header, footer, background etc.

I am trying to make a landing page, with a different look to the other pages on my site.

Is there a way to do this?
 
Yes. Create a child theme and then create a new template in that theme. You will need to edit it to take out what you don't want of the header and footer and then use that template as the basis for the page you are designing. Google, and some time, is what you need here....

Or am I misunderstanding what you are trying to do?
 
Yea, tried Googling it Andy but, cant get the right solution, if it can even be achieved.

My theme is already a child theme.

Basically, I'm looking to make a landing page with just an image as the background, then overlaid with text and shapes, contact form etc.

In other (non-wordpress) editors I've used it was easy, just make a new master page.
 
Thanks Darren but, I tried following that link earlier and it didn't do what I wanted.

How confident are you on editing .php files? That's what I think you are going to have to do to get what you want....
