Insurance.

Just to add, i used a company called Cofton insurance services for my PLI, i did buy it through some brokerage service though and cost about £60 annually for £2,000,000 cover

I would've thought because it's a public park and as long as you weren't doing something out of the ordinary (fire-breathing, juggling with knives, chasing after our centre forward with an axe.......yes that DID happen!! etc) then it would be difficult to have a claim?

But I'm no insurance expert

Gary, so you had equipment and PLI on different policies?

if you were just at the local park taking a few snaps of say eg footy and a player crashed in to you injuring himself would he be able to claim?

He could sue you if he felt you were to blame, just like you could sue him if he damaged your equipment or caused injury to you. In this example though there is no requirement for PLI it's just a down to you to consider the risks and take out insurance if you feel the risks justify it.

Yes, i used to have equipment on specialist policies like Akudi and the like until i took home insurance with esure who agreed to cover all my gear at no extra cost, i was paying less in home and contents insurance (incl £20,000 photo gear) for less than the old specialist insurance, i even claimes about 3 years ago for a 400mm f/2.8 which was written off after falling into the sea at Whitby with a D700 as well, no problems with the claim.

Cheers Gary. I think i'd have been diving in after it!!! That must've been proper oh FFS!

I use Glover Howe, they have been great to deal with if I need to change an item etc. But I have never made a claim although they had good reviews.

I have gear and £2 million PLI.
