The first day of this weekend's double header dawned to blue sky and warm sun and it was over to Eversley in North Hampshire for Keily and Chris's big day. I headed first to Warbrook House where Keily and her bridesmaids were getting ready. I shot a wedding there last year and it was nice to see the place again.

Keily was as relaxed as I'd expected and enjoying every minute of the day (we even managed to cover the bizarre sight of belly button surgery on This Morning as the preparation unfolded - very, very bizarre!). I commented before I left that I thought Keily would look stunning and sure enough, WOW! Chris, you have an absolute gem here and you guys are so in love!!

From here we then went over to The New Mill where the wedding and reception were taking place. Chris was waiting and clearly couldn't wait to call Keily his wife. He's also a photographer and knows his stuff, so the pressure was on for me to deliver even more than usual. Thankfully when you have such a wonderful couple to work with you can't fail to see great shots appear before you. I should add that they also have superb musical taste and it was a delight to hear Nick Drake's 'Northern Sky' playing as they signed the register as that was the song Nicky and I chose for our first dance back in September 2000.

All Nikon D3 and a mix of 50/1.4 AF-S, 24-70/2.8 and 70-200/2.8VR lenses):

Having arrived home at around 10pm Friday night it was an early start to head over to the very lovely Asperion Hillside for the preparation of Joy and Tom's special day. Both families had stayed there overnight (not Tom, obviously) and it was really exciting to see how much everyone was looking forward to the day. Joy had her sister as bridesmaid and her brothers as ushers, so everyone was really involved.

As you can see, Joy looked absolutely amazing and didn't stop smiling all day. I left the Asperion to meet up with Tom and the RAF sword party over at St John the Baptist, Wonersh (one of the finest churches I've seen in the last 3 years). The lads were all equally excited about their roles and were really welcoming and a great laugh. After a lovely ceremony we all left and headed over to the superb Gate Street Barn for the reception. Jane, from Gate Street, was there waiting for us and it was lovely to see her again.

The speeches were particularly good at this wedding, and the love that Joy and Tom have for each other was a real delight to see. As always, it was an honour to share in their day. They're off for a well-deserved 3 week honeymoon now!

Again all Nikon D3, and a mix of Nikkor 50/1.4 AF-S, 24-70/2.8 and 70-200VR lenses:

More of both on the blog

A busy weekends work there Guy and as usual the images both here and on your blog are to your very high standard and I am sure both couples will love them. My first double header is next B/H weekend with one on the Saturday in Herts and another in Ireland on the Monday and whilst it will be a busy weekend I'm really looking forward to it.

great set im sure all involved will be thrilled with the standard

I have a few doubles coming up and a triple to start August off with - should be fun :)

I enquired of yesterday's bride if I could move the shoes onto a table as there was little light on the usual bed/floor (and for those NOT in the know, that's supposed to be unlucky and a :nono:) - the bride's mum gave a quiet but firm "NO!" actually, it was more of a quiet shout - so I ended up laid on the floor to shoot them

Nice shots here too

DD

Wonderful, they all have great style:) love the simplicity in the shoe shot, it's beautiful. You have really captured both weddings beautifully:)

Excellent stuff! xx

Excellent stuff, love the 'passing the port'.

I think they look better on your blog than on here?

I've yet to do a triple Dave, I could have had one in September but I'm in Bristol on the Saturday so that would have been a bit much I think :D

The gloved hands drinking is a classic and so on the money it is incredible.

Cheers Pete (y)

Totally agree, and with the hand just in shot on the L/H edge of the frame it provides a great sweeping lead along the line of hands - top marks

Thank you

Thank you.

I agree - I think it's the fact that they're centered there and have the sides filled with the background images.

Re a 'triple' - one of the simple facts of my business plan is that I've every little travel to do as I simply won't go outside of my very local area without a relatively huge increase in fees

I actually try to put people off if they aren't within 12 miles of where I live, so each morning I can be pretty sure of arriving fresh and ready to go - some guys, not meaning you on here, I know will travel 200 miles to start their day, for anything like that I'd demand an overnight before & after the event - hence no-one's yet booked me for any real length of journey

My 'triple' starts with a 6 mile trip to Barnsley on day one, with reception/evening being 3 miles nearer home; my 2nd is so close I could (but won't) walk to it; my 3rd is a whopping 8 miles away

My long term plan is to buy a nice mansion house with fab grounds and a big pond, to run Weddings from 'home' - so all travel is a walk round the house  Then I can do 5 a week

(And yes I mean with all PP etc. done by others ;))

Weddings are fun - what better way to live your live than having fun often (y)

Hey DD when you have your own place and shoot weddings there you could put radio controled cams in each room and do it all from your chair :)

Already on the list m8 ;) ... already on the list

As is the porn site that results from the bridal suite cams www.DiddyDoHer.cum :LOL::LOL:

But then you said yourself weddings are fun - but only when you're in the thick of it and getting involved.

Nice work
shot no.2 on wedding no.2 a fraction either side and this shot could have looked totaly different with the bride sticking two fingers up  also liking the first dance shot a lot :clap:

now the hard work starts.........getting all those shots bang up to scratch...sorting out the keepers........putting the album together.....agghhhhhhhh love it:D looking forward to 2 of my double headers this year due to the locations (was 3 but 1 cancelled) they do/can take it out of you though

Dave

Thanks Dave - you're right about the fingers :D

Sorry for the delay - I missed the update on this.

Really like these images mate, aprt from the first they are all great, personal fav's being the first dance shot from the first set, just love the shallow depth of field and the emotion it shows, think the mono conversion helps that too. From the second set I live the couple looking out over the field. A real private tender moment shot.
Nice work.

Cracking shots. The first dance shot is my favourite too, but there are so many great ones. I'm sure the couples will love you for capturing how genuinely happy they were.

Looking at the blog there's even more great shots. I'm truely impressed!

Glorious sets, Radiohead - always look forward to seeing your shots - composition out of the top drawer, and a glorious crispness to them, but without them being over-technical, or contrived: they tell the story, exactly as it should be

The groom's jacket near his left lapel in set 1, shot #5 might need a little vacuuming ;)

Thanks marky, really kind.

It's pollen/blossom not dandruff though :D It was coming across from the other side of the mill all afternoon and made the outdoor stuff 'interesting'. I've left it in because it was there and part of something we were laughing about.

Incidentally I emailed the full wedding over to the couple in the first set yesterday (they're still on honeymoon) and they mailed me this morning and they are chuffed to bits. As am I to hear that.

Lovely shots Guy, and a great blog. The bike looks really impressive as well, have you had much chance to ride it with all these wedding?

Lovely work Guy, top notch as always. Just as an aside, do you do your branding in Lightroom and if so, how?

Thanks buddy

I don't - I use an extended canvas action in Potatoshop and run them as a batch for the blog

Ah that explains it! I like the effect, so I might have a play with something similar, cheers.
