Another Foggy day so we went to see the old Gunpowder Factory that is Powdermills on Dartmoor.

Some of the buildings remain as either domicile or business premises (Cafe anf Pottery) which are worth a visit, there is sufficient parking.

I caught Mrs T having lunch sheltered from the wind and drizzle.

The theme for this week was Fog, Fog and more Fog. We set off out from Peter Tavy to find Boulters Tor, Stephens Grave and White Tor , we found them all but the Fog made shots difficult.

Great series of images Paul and (IMO) would make a great book or other publication. Have followed your thread, but rarely commented (I didn't even manage commenting much on the proper 52!) so I apologise in advance :)

Congratulations on finishing, and all the best for 2022.

Do you have any thoughts on the experience/journey?

I only started watching your thread a few weeks a go, however I have enjoyed going through the images and looking at parts of Dartmoor I struggle to get to. Great thread and congratulations on completing it. This year I intend to watch more threads in the personnel challenges section I think it is a bit of a forgotten section and well worth looking at and commenting on. Are you intending another year Paul?

Thanks Ian I apreciate you taking the time to follow the thread and your kind comment.

WRT a book or zine etc I am in fact working on a book and these photos are all part of the recces for that book. I finished paid work earlier this year so I could work on the book. My plan is to create a compendium of work on Dartmoor on a theme of 4 seasons, as I said these trips have all been recces for that book but I have purposely never included any specific shots that are earmanrked for the book.

The journey/experience has been mixed, on the one hand it was very frustrating in the begining of the year when we were on full lockdown, I gave up my wjob just as the lockdown was implimented so for the first 6 weeks I wasn't earning but couldn't go anywhere that I couldn't get to on foot from home. Once we were allowed to drive a bit and I could get around the whole Moor it was better so to be disciplined I set myself schedules where Mondays would be the planning day map recce location decisions (and Plan Bs), Tuesdays would be the Photowalk sometimes long days 7-8 miles with quite heavy kit, Wednesdays would be processing the images (digital mostly) sometimes starting with almost 200 shots (many were just for the purpose of this 52 and my Blog). I would then look to the rest of the week for ordinary stuff chores, etc and finally I would worte my Blog up to publish on Sundays. There weren't many Tuesdays where we had to abandon entirely the photowalk and on each occasion we managed to get it in on the Wed or Thu with a bit of jiggling and weather good fortune.

This is a typical day's carry (the tripod is off the bag in this one though just out of shot. Photo by courtesy of Mrs T.

Thanks Roger,
Yes I will be continuing along this journey (see my reply to Ian @Harlequin565 ) I will also be continuing with the Blog on ePHOTOzine
https://www.ephotozine.com//user/topsyrm-149719/blog as I work towards my book. I expect to be able to gather enough shots through 2022 to be able to produce a book in late 2023 as long as I can get the right shots (on film using my Bronica SQ-Ai) no pressure :D

This will be my last post in this thread, I have started a new thread https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/topsys-dartmoor-rambles.733079/ to cover my weekly jaunts on Dartmoor.

Last week Mrs T and I had intended to go out to the Bleak House via Arms Tor and Great Links Tor but we had to abandon the plan because of bad weather/light so this week we decided to try again and were successful. I took along the Bronica SQ-Ai loaded with Portra 400 as well as my Fuji X-T2s.

Bleak House (Bronica).

En-route, Willsworthy Tors, Sharp Tor, Hare Tor with Gt Staple in the distance (X-T2).
