550ex and 1D Mk2 Compatability

Hi.
Does anyone know if a 550ex flash, is compatible or should be, with a 1D Mk2 camera.
I use a 24-70m L lens on the camera but none of the ETTL features work.
I can use the flash manualy and get the exposure right by trial and error.
I've got the latest firmware update on the camera, 1.2.6
Thanks for any help you can offer.

I used to use a 550EX with my 1D2 John so I'm sure it should work.

I guessed that they should be compatible. I thought about trying a different camera and flash with a friend. I didn't want to screw their gear up though, in the process.

This is an update for anyone who experiences the same as I have.

After Bob's input I investigated further. I cleaned the top of the hot shoe and the contacts on the flash, with switch cleaner. Tried again and everything worked fine.

I took the flash off and put it back on again, this time nothing.
I started to take the flash off again and everything burst into life.

I then realised that if I pushed the flash onto the shoe all the way, nothing worked but pulling the flash off a little, about 1/2 mm or so and locking it at that, then all is well. :)

It may assist someone.
