you're right, just checked, i left the aperture wide open and forgot to stop down. bugger. Will have a better go tomorrow, bit early at 5.30am to be taking pictures but thats when the sun is coming up, will get up a little earlier, have 2 cups of coffee and put my thinking cap on!

Carl, I'd say that your seeing is natively good (and your apparent enjoyment of life!), but that your technique needs refining - but you know that. Hone both the seeing and the skills, but NEVER spend a fortune on a 10-stop ND filter - do that & you will have lost your innocence & sold your soul.
