A Sad Soldier...

These are my comments
Number 1 - average like a tourist snap shot - The subject is central and is green against a green background.
You are just replicating what the original artist or sculptor did in photographic form.

Number 2 - More creative - the subject becomes more defined due to the use of monotone and a feeling of the sadness comes into the image. Subject still central though.

Number 3 - Your CREATIVE image. I like number 3.
As per 2 above for the use of monotone, but being closer we can now see the eyes of the subject and he is looking down and to his right (our left).
By placing him right of centre on your crop you give him space to look into as if he is paying respects to a fallen comrade or for another reason.
We can now feel his pain or pathos in both the subject and your image.

So go and reshoot it now, as intended. Cropping loses quality. If you can decide on a composition after shooting, you can do it in camera too if you slow down, and just think about what you're seeing in the viewfinder.
