Well once again we had a blast out on the stages ,the Rallycaptures Gang of Rhodri, myself and Ben,plus great to have the Big Man ,Jason Banbury back out, plus old chum Jamie Blandford and his Gritpic Boyz.

I solely used Nikon gear this year, mostly a D3 ,and various Nikon glass ,though my D2XS also had work as it still produces lovely results and gives extra reach too .
My preference is to shoot wider, incorporating backgrounds and spectators where possible ,and include the expressions.

First up the xmas stages at Pembrey ,and although a long trip as most are ,it's great to walk off the christmas pudding and have the craic with the gang.

Light was lovely this year.

We went a very, very cold icy Wyedean ,and I have never seen so many spins ,including this gorgeous Metro 6R4.

A highlight was a trip to the Ardennes for the Boucles De Spa and in freezing temps and rain some glorious machinery.

Fantastic RS1600 chasing Ferrari 308 gtb ,driven by Bjorn Waldegard . How good is that.

Enjoyed looking at these, some crackers amongst them. My favourites are 4th, looks like a rally Christmas card, 12th, the spectators are perfectly placed looking down on the escort and 13th, nice and simple but effective composition.

Sorry, hate the backgrounds just want to see the cars!

Just kidding;)

It goes very very nicely. Thank you for sharing.

The BMW is my favourite :)

Just goes to show you don't need colour to make a nice photo

Cracking photos Chris,
won't bother picking a favourite, but it probably features an Escort, lol.
Excellent exposures with realistic colours, a pleasure to view.

All the best for the festive season, don't eat too much, as if LOL>

Tony

Lovely set Chris,

Number 10 really stands out. I like your use of wider shots to show more of the background/spectators, but in number 10 i feel it particularly works well as it really shows you the terrain.

I just think they are all super , if i had to pick one it would have to be 8 .

Chris

Some fantastic shots here, well done! I might get myself to an event next year and see if I can get any half decent photos.

Thanks,it came out well ,and using the red and blue channels in PS ,the sky can really be made to pop. I do enjoy B/W .

Cheers Tony, will be lovely if you can get to Pembrey on the 30th ,you will enjoy it.

Cheers Nick ,wider is my thing as is use of smaller primes where appropriate.
yamahatdm900 Crcaking stuff Mr Pons - love no 10, 12, 13 and the last with the waterfall

Thanks Graham, took a few next to the waterfall ,which is actually a very young river Wye not far from source up on the hill above. This is at the Sweetlamb Rally complex used every year in Rally GB.

Digitalize Some real amazing shots, very sharp, good colours, and actually thought out. Enjoyed them all, imagine you're chuffed with them!

Thanks ,yes pretty pleased :),and got to know my gear pretty well and did the whole season with it. The previous year I had Canon as well !
satnav I just think they are all super , if i had to pick one it would have to be 8 .

Chris
Yes ,Damos WRC looks great in those colours in 8. He won the Championship in it.

t00116131 13 and 16 would be my favourites! Well captured

Ah both the B/W shots , thank you ,they worked out well.

Gary top notch stuff as usual! i dont envy you rally boys out there in the cold

Cheers Gaz ,would love you to come out with us for a day,am sure you would love it and teach us some new tricks with your own unique style.
bensambrook Some fantastic shots here, well done! I might get myself to an event next year and see if I can get any half decent photos.

Check out British Rally Forum for details and have a go . Am sure you would love and get as hooked as us. Look forward to seeing the results,am sure you will do well.

Thanks all for taking the time to look and comment, the pleasure is in the giving.(y)

All excellent shots. I'd single out 2,3,4 and 11 as my favourites from the set :)

Another good year old chap, let's hope for more of the same in 2013! I understand you can't make Pembrey on Sunday? If not I'll see you on the Red Kite in January.

Regards,

Rhod

Great set once again. Love the way you include the background, and not cropping in just to show the car.

Some cracking photos there Chris! I'd go with 1 (love the blurred spectators), 2 (all the spray looks amazing) and 17 (for the same reason!). Can I ask how many photos you'd take to produce one that you're happy to share?

Red Kite it will be,Rhod, work interfered with Pembrey. Happy New Year.
Lesd90 Great set once again. Love the way you include the background, and not cropping in just to show the car.

Cheers Les ,I love setting the scene and see speccies and background as a bonus.

Cheers Matt,
That's a tough question . :)

In truth I get plenty of keepers, but am very fussy re shots I really like ,and move frequently during rallies ,even during stages if I am in a spot that the pics look a bit boring . I can never stand in a spot and take every single car the same way,no matter how good it is.

I am not taking them to sell, although we do have a website,it's all about the enjoyment and craic and hopefully coming home with just a few that I have really nailed and look at thinking I have taken a wall hanger or two, which hopefully will add up to a nice record of the year.

Although I enjoy the sociability ,I do prefer to try and get different shots to the rest of the gang where possible, and love finding places nobody else thinks is any good but I can see something that can look different as in 12,9,1 and 4.

Be your own harshest and most honest critic and bin any that are not 100 % sharp.

Thanks for looking and commenting all,it is appreciated .

Pons

Thanks Chris, I'm very new to photography and keep expecting to get nearly every shot as a keeper (which I'm starting to realise is completely unrealistic!). It's nice to hear how other people do things as I think I would probably have stuck in the same spot all day myself.

Awesome set, love the sharpness and composition in 3. Number 13 stands out too as i am an E30 fan and the simplicity in the shot is great.

Lovely set, thanks for sharing mate!
The only question - the lovley BMW b&w shot - did you reduce brightness or add a different sky? As the top of the trees have some halo effect and steels the attention from car?
#17 would be printed and on my wall :) Love it!

Cheers Alex ,b/w adds a dimension that I like and thinks look good, that said it looked pretty good in colour too.

kamakazi137 Great shots!

:)

ReinisB Lovely set, thanks for sharing mate!

The Sky is as shot, but when converted into B/W ,the blue channel is used to bring out detail in the sky that does not show normally. A filter might have had the same effect.

The shot looks better at full res and the car is as sharp as glass and really well defined.

Glad you like 17 ,so do I :)

Happy New Year and good luck this season.

Lovely stuff. Great compositions and scene setting, think my favourite is #4.
Makes me want to get out in the cold this year and go and see some rallies.

Well worth it,Dan ,always a great day out (y) It's rare we get conditions as cold in this country plus sun as in 4 ,The stage was sheet ice .
WorldUK Very beautiful shots there. Love em!
, Glad you like.

8mediacentral Great stuff. In #7, why is everyone looking about 100 yards down the road?

Think they thought he was heading my way :) ,but in reality any off was going to occur about 100 yds down the road at that speed , was a 100 mph jump and is on u tube ,check out Steve Cressey on Tour of Epynt. Heres a link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWKqKvG2yo8 ,about 55 secs in and at end.
