macro is driving me mad.any c/c welcome.

Fly is a good capture, they don't sit still for long.
Like you I am on a learning curve with macro shots, getting focus spot on the point of interest and managing dof is never easy. But it is nice to get a good shot!

The fly is a cracker. Im new to macro aswell and my DoF and focus still needs working on all and can say is keep at it and it will all fall into place. Try practicing on something static.

Hi lister,used a nikon D7000,105mm nikor ,and a second hand ring flash that only fires when it wants to.

Try using a bigger aperture around f11-f16, you've got F25 & F29 and this could be causing softness / lack of detail in the images due to diffraction , also wind your ISO down to around 200.
