Amature show jumping

#3 is pretty close to the 'classic' jump shot. A scenic background with the timing of #3 is what you are looking for. I have found with this sort of event a high speed continuous frame setting is pretty much the only way to get the classic jump pose - up to you to find the most pleasing backdrop - shallow DOF is usually your best friend.
 
#1 you cant see rider face plus horse feet on ground

#2 horse feet on ground and head part of fence.. your biggest problem is feet on ground.. makes it look like a statue.. you ahve to be that nano second later with feet off the ground..


#3 much better :)
