An Independent Scotland?

GB is threatening to stand against Alex Salmond at the next election.

Yes thats very true. But more of you voted for him than anyone else.

No one voted for him as PM …….. and only the good people of Kirkcaldy voted for him and they would vote for a dog if it had a Labour striker on it's back

The majority of you voted labour, we don't vote for PM's in the UK. In fact you are supposed to base voting on best person to represent your constituency. Trouble is we would vote for a monkey if he was from the party we support!
Although if Salmond could be honest for a change, I'd vote for him if he stood in my constituency. But there's far more chance of the monkey doing that....And more chance of the monkey being honest.

if i recall correctly Blair had announced he would stand down, and Brown was the only game in town. So, he's one of your lot and it's your own fault.:)

I would like to see us using our own currency, but if the experts feel that a currency union is in everyone's interest then so be it. It doesn't mean that's how it will be for ever. Several countries have gained independence from the UK, used a currency union as a stepping stone to having their own currency, an gone on to greater things.

I think those north of the border are somehow missing the mood south of the border the longer this referendum runs, I doubt currency union will be supported by any party wanting to garner votes for a rUK parliament post separation (if it was to happen), it would be incredibly unpopular and a definite vote loser for any party to support.

I haven't met a single person who thinks it is a good idea, in fact most are vehemently opposed, mostly because of the way the SNP and the rest of the Yes group have acted and are acting towards England (not to mention the financial risk it imposes on rUK post separation).

Public opinion does not appear to be for the idea of currency union in England, in my opinion and experience.

Seriously? Wow he must be working for the Yes camp then...Sodd the details, its worth a pun

nice piece in the guardian from spending think tank that point out more lies from salmond about nhs spending. On my phone so will have to find it later. That's the reason GB wanting to stand against salmons apparently

<snip> So, he's one of your lot and it's your own fault.:)
And just when we were finally getting to common ground :p GB nearly done something right...

this was the link

Alex Salmond's claims that being in the UK threatens the future of Scotland's health service suffered a major blow after Britain's leading fiscal thinktank said the NHS was better protected within the union.
The Institute for Fiscal Studies also...

Absolutely! And that is what I really admire from the Yes camp....If anything I hope they have inspired everyone else to get involved, to stand up for what they believe in and not leave it to seasoned politicians wherever they are seated. Make yourself heard!

Making glib statements about the situation in Catalunya really demonstrates a lot of ignorance on the subject.
It's a fair cop and I'm happy to be corrected. I'd appreciate a smidgen of explanation though, if we can manage that without going too far off topic. I thought the Spanish government were taking a pretty hard line on this, saying that any vote the Catalans might hold would have no legal status, etc. Is that just bluster?

Stop picking on Hugh he is doing a good job

Ignore him, he has a bug up his backside for me and it eases the pain being able to post his snipes :)

I know I'm south of the border, but I get the feeling Braveheart is on repeat on Scottish TV

Galloway lost, he brought up the war first.

You guys doon Sooth get to watch the debate (should you choose to) in ten minutes.

yes …. it just gets even more confusing …… let's just get everyone to vote asap

I don't have that much influence but I'll do what I can :)

Just realised Nicola sturgeon is a woman........never seen her until today but heard the name mentioned on radio........and thought she wad a he called Nicholas turgen....hope this makes sense

Me 'n' mah mate reckon Independence for North Staffordshire next.

Revenue - loadsa clay left.

Defence - Staffies. Thousands on 'em.

Economy - Favour done, favour owed. Wi' me duck.

EU - Ee you 'n' all pal.

I've been watching a bit of the debate...Damn that Nicola woman is off putting, rude and smug...But all I keep hearing there and from the audience as well is that it is like they are on some kind of socialist stoned trip trying to create a socialist utopia...Heck even the No camp is like that, but then again it is George we are taking about, convinced how those nasty Tories will leave and real labour will come into power...

Can someone please think of the children and how we are going to pay for all this...

I'm starting to think perhaps the rest of the Uk need a yes vote to move forward and so do Scotland, we can not have the same currency - well eventually. A gradual process is what's needed and when the Oil runs out in 40 or so years time Scotland might realise the grass isn't quite so green after all.

Can't see Labour getting back into power for ages if it's the case though!

He looked like his suit had shrunk in the wash while he was standing at the bar.

Oil would make up 15% of iScotland's 'income'.
