Critique "Annie The Musical"

Yesterday my Wife & Daughter went to watch Annie The Musical which gave me a couple of hours to walk around London with my camera. Captured this while waiting for them to come out.

There seems to be a lack of DR expressed in this
rendition, Mark, and an horizon tweak would be
a good decision, I think!

As someone that is new to 'digital' photography, is lack of DR caused in the BW conversion? Is it the same as contrast?

The picture was taken in the dark if that makes any difference?

A poor conversion will lose a lot of luminance which will
impact the final rendition and, consequently the DR.

Is it the same as contrast?

It may be perceived as such as it will affect it but it is not
the better idea to correct it using the contrast slider.

I would be very curious to see the original take.

Sorry Mark… but this is not the original but an already
converted file… not much I can help you with!

As in not RAW? OK, thank s anyway.

Yes. When a RAW file is converted to jpg, tons of recorded
information are not coming along though the conversion to
produce an image.
