Apple Time Capsule

As I plan to get a new Macbook soon, thinking about Time Capsule.

Currently use a standard HD for backups, but like the idea of wireless backups so I really dont need to think.

Any views on this... any issues, is it faster than plugging a drive in?

Quite a few variables but It'll depend on your wireless type and strength but it'll most likely be slower transferring data than a direct attached drive.

The initial back-up will take some time, though you can plug in an ethernet cable to speed this up. After that though you will probably not notice the back ups, they just happen quietly in the background.

Yes as Planky said, it just happens in the background. What I think is good is the amount of backups it makes but takes not too much hard drive space up.

Timecapsule gets my vote

Yes it is wireless, and they come in a 2 or 3gb versions, plus you can plug a USB hard drive in the back aswell if needed or wanted....

You may to look at some of the other options that are compatible with Apple Time machine. Certainly Buffalo do something very similar but for far less cash. Until I moved the laptop on, I used it in exactly the same way but now I just have an iMac I use a firewire drive.
