Hi,

I have just upgraded my camera from a Canon 450D to a 50D and got a 25-105mm and 100-400mm lens for it. My 450D fitted perfectly with 3 lenses and a 430ex flash into a lowepro 300 flipside. I have tried my 50D with 24-105mm lens attached and it just about fits but no way is the 100-400.. lens going in there.

Any suggestions on a more suitable bag for my equipment?

Thanks
Greg

Thanks Alan,

I will check them out.

Go to warehouse express and have a look. Plenty of bags to choose from. Personally I can't stand the slingshot design. I use a Computrekker backpack and a Stealth Reporter shoulder bag depending on my mood.

Thats my best bet Andrew,

I need a few other bits as well so I'll pop up there in a bit.

Cheers
Greg

hi greg

am hoping to get a 100-400 in a few months so would be good to
see if the 100-400 fit

hi Alan

When I find a good fit I will up date it on this thread, by the look of the reponses so far it looks like a Lowepro Stealth Reporter or slingshot.

Slingshot 200 AW fully loaded with....

40D, 50D, 10-22, 17-55, 70-200/2.8IS, 100-400.

It is a lot of weight to hang from one shoulder strap, but if you are shooting then at least one camera/lens will be out of the bag anyway, which should make the weight far less of an issue. I haven't tested the 70-200 in the top section but certainly you can have the 100-400 mounted and ready for quick access in the main section. Video of 30D and 70-200 access here....

^^^^ THAT is one jampacked bag! I'd watch the stitching on the shoulder strap though, and the zips, make sure you do the clips up. Mate had SEVERAL zip failures on a slingshot, the last failure cost him a 5D & 16-35L

I use a dakine photo mission, very big for what it carries, but you can walk for days with it fully loaded no bother, and it can carry a weighty tripod properly (many lowepro's have bungee attachments, which don't really work).
For something with two straps lowepro do a flipside 300 & 400, the 400 looks like a minitreker but its slightly bigger. the 300 (and 200/100) is totally different design, but really only holds 1body+ lens, 1spare lens + flapjack :p
Sorry confusing post^ the flipside 400aw is a good size and might fit your needs. the 300/200/100 are prob a bit small

Yeah, I wouldn't plan on yomping around with the bag like that - too uncomfortable. It's fine for carting kit from house to car and car to venue, but once there the camera(s) come out and hang round my neck or off my shoulder. I would very rarely, if ever, have the 70-200 and 100-400 with me at the same time. I took that shot just to show what could be fitted into the bag.

in my 400AW i fit

30D
70-200 f/2.8L + hood
24-70 f/2.8L + hood
17-40 f/4L
400mm f/5.6L hood retracted
Canon EF 1.4x II Extender

in the main bit - pretty much the limit, will have to re-jig it when i get another body

and in the front pocket

hood for the 17-40
lee filter holder + 6 5x4 filters in the pouch
