Critique Ballet Shoes shot for the missus's Birthday 2nd attempt

Had another go but struggled a bit where to shoot for a decent background/flooring, ended up on the kitchen floor. Also struggled with the flash as had it on manual to create some shadows. let me know what you think of this one.

I like these a lot better but would still love to see them in colour

They look rubbish they're a horrible skin colour. Photo in colour really doesn't do anything for them. However she's also got some red ones which would look more interesting in colour but not sure what background to put them on?

Could you use reflections? Maybe use a reflective surface, red with black might look spectacular. Or otherwise hang them on a wall by the ribbons?

second one is a good pose, but I agree I don't think the background suits.
