...With a friend's 600mm VR f/4 mounted on my AW-1 body.

and to take things to the extreme, we added his 1.4x teleconverter...

The telecon shot was tripod mounted and I used the 5s self timer. The straight 400mm shots were all naturally lit and at 10 past 4 on the winter solstice, there wasn't much! The teleconverted shot was torch lit, mainly to get the setup to autofocus. We didn't think it would be fair to ask it to even try with his 2x telecom - maybe in the summer! As you can see from the EXIF, the equivalent focal length of the unconverted lens is 1620mm and with the telecon 2295mm. Wouldn't like to be lugging it around all day but as a tool for a specific purpose...
Please excuse the noise - ISO 6400 is a little unfair to judge the AW-1 on but was necessary to get shutter speeds down enough!
More "normal" lengths were used at the Dartmoor Wildlife Park earlier in the day but a 70-300 was too long on the AW-1.
