Trying out Photomatix again and would appreciate any comments/thoughts.

Two duplicates of one exposure at -2 and +2.
Not sure whether that's a good way fo going about it though, and I'm not entirely happy with either of them now .

Some rework on this one to reduce the day-glo effect a tad.
Still not too enthused about this pic, but the clouds sum up our 2008 summer.

even thought the first one seems a little dull the second seems false to me ( not OTT though)

First one for me too. #2 looks a little like a 1960's postcard colour.

I kind of prefer the second one, mostly because of the skies.

Nope, it's Lyme Park House gardens, just off the A6 near Stockport.

I assume you just took 1 picture and did a -2 +2?
If thats the case then dont do it. I used to do that but they are much better if you actually take 3 pictures at -2, 0, +2 in camera.
The whole idea of HDR is to get as much Shadow / Highlight detail as possible but i think you have now discovered as i did it looks decidely iffy.
