Hi All,

I'm planning to go to the Bournemouth Air Show to see the two Lancasters together. Is there anywhere that's good to photograph from or should I just hit the beach?

BTW, sorry if this is in the wrong section, there didn't seem to be a Talk Transport area :)

I'd go to sea young man.
I've tried from up on the cliffs, on the off chance its sunny, it really isn't great.
Last year, I went on one of the boats, it's much better, sun behind you, planes topsides on, sorted.

Thanks for the reply, is that easy to sort out or do you need a friend with a boat?

Ooh, a Swordfish (?), nice. In many respects all I really want to do is relive my Airfix childhood :)

What kind of focal length are you using there?

I don't actually live that far away and I have a Friend who lives in Bomo so hoping to combine it with some socialising.

As Shaun pointed out, 400mmm.

I live fairly close so usually go to the seafront on a couple of the days and the airport on another. Weather has been very good the last 2 shows but if the forecast is anything to go by it could be a bit iffy this year.

Thanks for all the info - looks as though the boats are sold out so I'll head to the beach and maybe up t'hill. Boat next year.

Shame about the Canadian Lancaster though...

It's absolutely manic here, chavs everywhere barging and pushing people about! Just waiting for the show to start now, tempted to use the pier instead as we have the pushchair and little man with us!!?

Whys the sky not blue :p It was where I was :D but then I wasn't where you where.

Couple of nice shots shame the weather not playing ball.

You would of thought all the planning that goes in to this show, somebody should of booked the weather :exit:

went yesterday, very busy, at the end massive congestion as nearly everyone seemed to leave (despite advice) after the Red Arrows

Sadly, Canadian Lancaster not appearing due to engine problems

Hopefully everyone will leave after the Red Arrows today then.

I believe they are one of the first to fly. Last year they didn't display on the Sunday and is was great, plenty of room for everyone.

Edit: Looks like the Canadian Lanc is fixed and will fly today at 1.35pm

good news re Canadian Lancaster, will be at the RNLI charity bath race this afternoon. The Red Arrows were the last event of the afternoon yesterday

Aircraft making their way to and from the show often pass over the New Forest, on Wednesday the Red Arrows did a flypast over Lyndhurst high st while on Thursday either the Lancaster or Sally B (not sure working in a small garden and only had a brief glimpse) came over Sway really low in the sky

Hopefully everyone will leave after the Red Arrows today then.

I don't know where you heard that from, the Canadian Lancaster still under going a engine replacement and wont be flighting until at least Tuesday because of all the engine and air tests. The BBMF Lancaster, Thumper has an issue which was fixed late last night and is due to be flying again today.

You're night @Nawty - 400000+ yesterday and I'd guess similar today.

My 11 year old was using my d7000 today ( he took over 200 shots which I'm just downloading )

My head is more red than a very very red thing
