Massively cropped on those two as was a long way from them and only had kit lens at that time - quite hard focussing in there as the humidity keeps steaming the viewfinder up !!

Not easy to focus in the conditions detailed so for a first attempt I was pleased

I have always used a 50mm prime lens when taking photos in butterfly zoo's. As you said it does steam up, but if you leave it alone for 5 minutes to adjust to the heat you'll be fine.

I won't critique them but will treat them as a learning experience.
Never having been to Butterfly House I have picked up from your images, and other comments, that DoF and acclimatising the camera are considerations to prioritise.

I would also add, practice focussing on an insects eyes its not easy at all !!!

Great place to visit, as they have an Otter Farm here, and a Steam Railway
