I've sorted it - set flash to ADI, set ISO to 400, set Flash Compensation to around +1EV. Remove the wide angle diffuser if you have one on.

given that the UK is the best performing market in Europe for the A900 I can't help but think that this points to a refresh/upgrade/replacement being on the horizon.

according to the exif of the shot that you posted then you had the camera lens @30mm (so effectively 45mm if used on an APS-C) but the gun was set to 85mm so the gun was concentrating it's light into a smaller fov than your lens had.

Do you mean the zoom seting on the flash gun if so it was set at 24mm, looks like everbody is going to post a shot of their car in the dark

Sony A900 available at play.com for £1299! Think Sony is going to discontinue the A900 pretty soon, maybe for a new full frame camera??

Been looking to get a genuine Sony grip for my A200 for a good while now and for this price now is as good a time as ever.
Never dropped on one of the PCWorld/Curry sell off's.
Tried an aftermarket grip and have been less than impressed with the feel of the shutter button

I've worked out what's probably happening here - the seller will have bought the accessory packs that Curys was selling for £15 (these included an NP-FM500) & he's splitting them.Probably fakes - seller just doesn't know it.
You can get "genuine" batteries on Ebay for £13
He's selling 3 cases @ £20 & 3 batteries @£20.

I bought one on Ebay and asked the seller if it was genuine (only £14 BIN) and he said it was a split from the same thing.

Certainly look genuine and come with Sony packaging, paperwork and guarantee...2nd one on charge at the mo' so time will tell.
The sony case is only £15 at play.com
