Just after views on this lens, I'm thinking of buying one to use on my 7D.

I'm thinking the same thing, heard lots of good feedback about the 17-155 2.8.

The only negative reports I've heard relate to dust getting into the lens, some say this can be prevented by fitting a filter, and the odd comment about build quality. Does anyone know if the build quality is on a par with the Canon 10-22 EFS? If it is, That's good enough for me.

I have no issues with mine. I use it pretty much most of the time.

It's an excellent lens that complements the 7D really well. Thoroughly recommend you get one!

If you have the dosh then go for it! They also seem to hold their value pretty well.
