Canon 1D mkiv vs 5D mkiii focus.

I have a 1d mkiv and am looking at a 5d mkiii. Can someone who has both or used both tell me how quick the 5d is to lock on focus in comparison with the 1d mkiv.

I thought it was hard to tell the difference, the issue for me was the low frame rate per sec and as soon as you used two cards the buffer rate slowed up

The frame rate I could live with but the buffer rate is interesting.

I'm looking to lessen the weight so am looking at the 5dmkiii or maybe a 7d mkii but not sure about the IQ and this focus issue some people are reporting.

I use both for low light theatre photography, the IQ of the 5D3 is better than the 1D4 at high ISO. There is no real difference in speed or reliability of focus lock in single shot mode, which is all I use.

I've had both and would say tech has moved on enough to favour the 5dmk3, not much in it but overall image quality is noticeable.

That's what I was thinking and the little bit reduction in weight.
