OK So i would like to get a bit 'remote' with my 5Dmk3 and looking at various options, want to be able to shoot from my 5d3 from my iphone wirelessly and would also like the ability to do long shutters , delayed firing , time-lapse etc from the phone too.

From what i am gathering from the net i will need an eyefi sd card and then an app , anyone use anything similar or have any good advice on the best value way to do this ? Will the remote apps work fine with an eyefi card ?

Cheers
Andrew

The EyeFi card won't give you remote preview - just the end result, and the EyeFi card can get very hot inside the camera (I don't trust it!) and uses up battery like crazy, so I tend to use mine very rarely.

It's not entirely the same thing because you need to connect your phone with a cable, but I really do like my http://www.triggertrap.com/#products/triggertrapmobile1

Of course for remote viewing the newer cameras with WiFi built in such as the EOS M3 allow you to do remove preview etc, but I'm sure you don't want a new camera just for this

I use this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.dslrcontroller

with one of these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Micro-USB...hone-PDA-PC-/151196739927?hash=item2334072957

With a regular usb cable and can control my camera with either my phone or tablet (nexus 10) including live view.

Works pretty well though I've never really had a use for it. Just got the bits on a whim just to try it.

If all I wanted it for was to do time lapse I would probably just get a cheap ebay intervalometer as the battery in a phone would be limiting.

I use DSLR controller too.

Fantastic with a 2m USB OTG lead. Even better using a little battery powered WiFi access point giving about 100m range.

the Triggertrap product looks like a great idea :) thanks for the info

What I like most about ML is that if I don't want to use it then I just swap the card that has it on for another and you're back to normal :)

What camera do you use it on Chris and have there ever been problems using ML that cant be undone by removing the card , I presume if i stick it on an SD in the dual card slot it boots from that too ?

How about Capture One?

You can tether with a USB to Capture One and then look at the files remotely through an iPad and maybe a iPhone... haven't used an iPhone though.

I think you may also be able to control the camera through the iPad app. Again, not 100% sure on that.
