Canon EOS 40D lenses

Hi,

Being completely new to this forum & photography I have just bought a used Canon EOS 40D & was wondering if you could point me towards some lenses to get me going.

I would prefer to buy 'used' equipment, unless the lenses are cheap anyway, as you get more 'bang for your buck' as a friend of mine states.

I want to take photos using macro & tele photo lenses & have no particular leaning towards what I take pictures of & I just want to have a go a photographing most things so that I can get used to my camera, although I must admit to loving black & white photography!!

So there it is, not much to ask he says!!

At this moment in time & bearing in mind that I'd like to buy used the budget would have to be no more than £200.

PS, I should have also asked what other makes, other than Canon, will fit on a Canon EOS 40D & whilst on the subject what lens fitting do I need to ask/look for!!

Sorry, I should have been more precise in my initial post, it's the body only hence me wanting a lens asap, can only put my lack of info down to age!!! :LOL:
