Do Canon provide warranty to second hand sales?

I purchased an item from this site, it was a couple of quid cheaper than most. However, the item I purchased turned out to be second hand, although it was not listed as such in the page.
To their credit though, when I said that I could not accept the item because it was without manufacturers warranty (being second hand), they did refund the whole amount.

Looks like a nice plotter if you need one that size!
 
I assumed it was only a few months old so therefore the warranty was valid. I have had a couple of mates get stuff from here and they had no issues with stuff being second hand but then you get all sorts of stuff on there.

I was close to buying a Laptop from here a few months ago but ended up not doing it as somehow I keep spending my money on camera stuff now :cautious:
