Lit this from the rear right with a home made mini-softbox, then off to the left was a flash pointing in to a reflector on low power, just to rescue some shadow detail.

Any thoughts, particularly on my lighting would be very much appreciated.

the light works really well for this, brings the detailing out.

The composition is pretty busy but kinda works for it.

Agree with above. The only thing I'd be tempted to do, seeing as you've shown the mortar and peslte, is have a couple of cracked pods and some seeds scattered as well. Good though

guess the homemade softbox really worked ! Like the composition and again, the light !

Agreed with the cracked pods bit. Also, a tad more light to bring out the lower right and upper mid-left would have been nice. I really like the composition too. Nice shot!
