Chester Zoo Selection

It seems to have been a while since I was at the zoo, but took a day off work and thought I'd go take some photos for their "action" themed photography competition. I've never seen such a bunch of sleepy docile animals as this visit - oh well

Here's a few of the ones I took on the day, any advice or comments gratefully received

1. This little meerkat just seemed to be saying "why me?"

2. He jumped in the end but my shutter speed was a bit slow and I ended up blurring it a touch.

3. Mandrill in the trees.

Really like the last one, typical animals doing the exact opposite of what you want

Its a nice set, but the Mandrill really stands out from the crowd

Thanks Pete, I think the angle I was taking it from meant a lot of the zoo clutter was out of frame or blurred out

I noticed the other day that your 'blurred' jump was awarded 3rd place in a Chester Zoo comp

Thanks for the comment, it was indeed! I preferred my other shots but the theme was action so a bit of clarity and sharpening and it looked good enough to submit. I was very pleased with getting a place.

Yeah, I submitted one just for fun; I guess the young elephants mounting each other wasn't the sort of action they wanted
