I find this an interesting portrait, the range of tones is spot on, but for some reason the bright area to the left and the area above the eyebrows is distracting. Perhaps a severe crop with focus on facial features and hand/cigarette?

Cracking shot, lots of character, deffo works well in b&w. For me the only slight crit is the cigarette isn't as prominent as it ought to be, imho.

I thought the same however I thought the gaze from his eyes was enough to keep you "in" the shot?
