Cleaning mirror on D4s

I have an annoying spot on my mirror that I'd like to clean off.
Now I know it doesn't affect the photo, but it's really annoying me and it's right in my eyeline.
It doesn't blow or brush off, so can I just wet clean it, as I do the sensor, with Visible Dust Sensor Clean and pads?
Just a little bit nervous as I've read it's pretty easily scratched.

If it helps at all...

I cleaned the mirrors on all my SLR/DSLR's many many times with no ill effects. Normal care is IMVHO all that's required.

Appreciated guys. Bit annoyed that I was up at Nikon UK only last Monday with it and it wasn't on there then!
Ha, perhaps they put it there!

Dirt gets in.. nowt you can do :) The mirror isn't part part of the optical path that forms the final image, so it's not critical. Just avoid excessive pressure and you're fine to even wipe crap off with a cotton bud (which I do all the time).

Don't they use surface silvered mirrors anymore.

They used to and you would never think of touching one of those, I assume from the comments above that they don't any more.

Paul

I've been cleaning mirrors for 30+ years so I assume that even silvered mirrors aren't all that delicate as long as you show a modicum of care :D
