I was taking apart a laser pointer for another project, and found a lens in it. It looked like it would just cover the lens on my cell phone, so I used a bit of clay to hold it in place, and took a coin from my pocket. Not bad for hand-held in pretty poor incandescent light.

I've heard of using lens in dvd players lens guess it's the same. Very good results.
