Taken today some comma butterflies on my 500mm - did not have a macro lens on me But think they may just count as closeup - about as close as the lens could focus...
Are your pictures taken from still frames of the video? (quite like the video).
The video looks sharper than the images - and for the 500, I'd have expected them to be pin-sharp :|
They look sharp here to me. There's a little loss due to compression I suppose from the originals. They are wide apertures - so only limited DOF on the butterfly.
My view would be that the colours are overdone and if you have applied noise reduction it has reduced any detail in the Butterfly, (if there was any there in the first place)
It looks like that you have sharpened what was a noisy image
I can see way they are not regarded as sharpe, they are not soft but harsh
Thanks for the feedback - will have to look at my processing. Was attempting a play with Nik Color Effex for first time. Should not have much noise as only 400 iso.
I like the idea Chris, and I can see where Gavin is coming from re the sharpness ( which I don't doubt is there ) but I think whatever you have done in Nik Colour Effex has completely "Blocked" the colours, wiping out most of the fine detail.
Maybe post the same shots without the Nik adjustments.
