Contax 159MM does anyone have a broken camera? I need to find a mirror for mine!

No
A bit of a long shot, but my Contax 159MM suffers from the dreaded mirror slip. As a result the mirror has somehow smacked into the back of one of the lenses, creating a shattered corner to the mirror. The camera is still working but I don't want to continue shooting with a disintegrating mirror.

I have no idea where to find a replacement mirror, other than to see if anyone has a dead or broken 159MM they don't need? One with an intact mirror obviously!

Or if anyone knows if mirrors from a different Contax will fit?

Many thanks,

Perhaps not the most helpful suggestion.
Definitely not. :(

You might try second hand specialists such as MW Classic in London, whio seem to buy a lot of stock at auctions and may therefor have a few "dead" cameras in their stock. Some others that may be able to help are Mifsuds in Brixham (Devon) and the The Camera House in Birmingham.

Why did Contax go out of business?

Kyocera acquired Yashica in 1996 and continued producing camera under the Contax name, but the brand never established much headway in digital imaging. "Kyocera has decided to terminate (the Contax) business due to difficulties in catching up with the recent rapid market changes,"
all I can suggest is buy one of ebay or give this company a call, they may be able to help

Scraping the barrel:- Quite a few members here used to send their cameras to Miles Whitehead @ mwcamerarepairs@gmail.com Well he has retired, but thinking what has he done with all the spares he had accumulated over the years and you never know he might have a mirror that he would sell to you?

Thanks all, I really appreciate the suggestions, I’ll give some a try. For context, I know it would be possible to find a working body on eBay or elsewhere but it would be nice to get mine back in action as so much stuff gets thrown away or sits in a loft unused. I thought it was worth a try.
