There are great hiking routes in Corsica. However, you should take good equipment and be somewhat confident. We got caught in a thunderstorm here twice.
Place of Jean-Pierre Gaffori with his birthplace (1704) covered with bullet holes in the centre of Corte. In 1745, Corsicans led by Gaffori drove the occupiers out of the town and he was called "Protector of the Nation".
In the mountain village of Casamaccioli, the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is celebrated annually. For centuries, members of the brotherhoods have carried a statue of the Virgin Mary through the small village in the north of the island (Haute-Corse). The Virgin Mary is the patron saint of Corsica.
Very interesting and with out doubt some where that I would like to visit but of course for me it is too late . My nearest to such a place was Korcula and the village of Cara and Zavalatica where i lived for four months That image of the citadel is great.
