Cutting Colorama roll

Has anybody any experience of cut down the length of a full roll of Colorama background, can it be done without messing the whole roll up with tatty edges etc??
 
Just take a wood saw to it and cut it like a log. Takes two seconds.

Tatty edges look cool and professional ;)
