Yes Rob. Just spent the best part of the last 90 minutes applying for it online. Had to take pics of the warranty card and receipt only for the pc to freeze crash at uploading images stage. Now The Nikon website wont work as when I enter the ref number to resubmit nothing happens grrrrr. Not the simplest process at all.
Have you tried a different browser or clearing cache.
That is a pain and unfortunate as you weren't to know the promotion was going to start. What about trying to contact nikon direct and see if they could do something for you.Yep. The "document uploader" page doesn't work. Its immaterial anyway I think, I bought my lens on the 28th Feb, one week before the promotion started. Can't say I'm terribly pleased about that.

I've had a play tonight with my 70-200 f4 and sigma 105mm macro. At roughly 1 metre the sigma is at f3 so not too bad. The 85mm f1.8 would give roughly an extra 1.5 stops so would help a bit but I'm not sure I would use it much for wildlife as it would be more of a speciality lens.
Is the 85mm f1.8 fast and accurate to focus? Does it hunt in low light? If it's faster to focus in low light than my sigma 105mm os it could be a useful lens to carry. The 2 stops faster aperture compared the my 70-200 f4 could be useful since I don't have any f2.8 lens anymore.
Aye. I've just spoke to a customer service lass and she said to send the copies of proof of purchase etc over and it will be down to the discretion of head office if I am eligible. Fingers crossed.
The 85 is fairly quick, not as quick as the 1.4 but then you're paying £900 more for that. On the D800E mine doesn't seem to hunt in low light, the usual find a point of contrast does the trick.
It's a great lens and pretty versatile for a supposedly "specialist" prime.
That's great news, great customer service for Nikon there then. I'm guessing most don't ask. Thanks Rob, great customer service from Nikon, they gave it to me.
Think of it this way...
You could have the Nikon 85mm f1.8g and the Sigma 35mm f1.4 art for the same price as the 85mm f1.4g...
Just looking back at an old post.....you're almost prophetic!!
