Yeh Graham, hand held. I never use a tripod or monopod for insect shots, far too restrictive. MPE-65 about 2x mag and diffused ringflash on a 7D body.

I like that Brash, great focussing there fella. Anyone have an idea what the middle eye thing is for?

I personally dont mind the background and I quite like the catch light in the eyes. Very portraity lol
