Debating changing a lens (sig 100-300 f4)

I am considering putting the 100-300 on fleabay and buying a 70-300 VR nikon.
I cant justify the cost of the 70-200 2.8, and tbh the sigma is hardly used anyway. but I still want the option of a longer reach for the odd occasion.

I'll be using it with a D700,

any thoughts on the D700 & 70-300?

I had both and sold the vr and kept the F4.
