Critique Definition

I can see what you mean about losing some of the detail of the sax. I think in an utterly ideal world, the horn would've had a bit more light, but I can tell you thats only because I'm looking at it from the view of what could be improved, as you are.

If I were just viewing it as a picture and nothing else, I'd not even consider it an issue. Its a wonderfully atmospheric photo.
 
I suppose you could be right but perhaps the players face is more important. Comparing two shots might be nice, this one and one with the instrument more visible, but I do like it as it is with the players face and expression being the point of interest.

Agree with Alan, unless you have a specific need to focus on the instrument the 'atmosphere' created in the image surrounding the sax-player works really well IMO.
