Didcot Towers nighttime demolition.

I'm off to Didcot this evening to watch the demolition of three of the cooling towers.
The blasts are apparently planned for sometime between 3-5am, from my point of view, obviously the later the better.
I will be photographing from a roof top approximately a mile away, using a tripod mounted Eos450d with a Tamron 4.4-5.6 di lens.
Obviously going to focus manually and use a shutter release and fire off as many as I can.
Any other tips?

I think you've got it covered by the sounds. Loads of shots, 500th or 1000th a sec if you can push the iso up to get it and you should get nice frozen action if a bit grainy. A mile away is a bit far though so detail may be an issue but will be interesting to see the images if you fancy sharing
