Do I need a flashgun?

Hello

I have been deliberating what to get next and a flashgun stands out as favorite but do I really need one.

At present I only have 18-70 and a 55-200 lenses and a tripod

I do a lot of building and nature photography and a lot of my GF (when shes not paying attention usually )

I want to move into portrait photography but would prefer a 2.8 zoom lens rather than a prime one so am thinking that I get a flashgun now and practice with my kit lens and then shell out a few hundred for the 2.8 zoom.

aaaah so many decisions.....

if you want to do more portraits get a nifty fifty can get them for about £70 and will give great results.

then add a flash gun later

I see where your coming from but I don't want to be tied down to a set focal length, I would prefer to get like a 17-70 f2.8 as opposed to the set 50mm.

Am thinking flash now and practice with kit lens ......
