My strategy for photographing birds on the fence at this part of the garden is to position myself near the feeder they use the most, making no attempt to hide. It tends to go quiet for a while and then their bellies and curiosity starts to get the better of them and they begin to land on the fence to reccy me out.
'Bugger - he's there again!'
'I wonder when he'll sod off? I'll pretend I can't see him.'
'Play it cool and have a stretch. Look at me - am I bovered?'
All at 700mm and 800 ISO
I'm really loving the 40D and getting a high hit rate of sharp shots.
