Need advice again!!!

My son has just dropped of a old laptop for me to play with, A Dell Inspiron 1545 specs are Duel-Core 3.2ghz processor and 4gb memory, 320 hdd

I use my desktop for photoshop etc but thought this could be handy. as a bit of a photo book
so what would run best Elements or Lightroom???

I had LR4 running fine on my dell core 2 duo, but the issue was the screen. Even after calibration it still was not right.

LR5 was were slow on the laptop, not tried elements.

thanks Kev I guess I'll try both and see, this laptop has a 15.5 screen and has calibrated well, so I hope it will be OK...

I occasionally run lightroom on an old laptop (sorry don't know the specs but it sounds similar) and the biggest improvement to performance was fitting an SSD. That made it quite usable, except for the rubbish screen.

LightRoom and Elements are very different programs and are intended for completely different purposes.

I think LightRoom will struggle on the setup you suggest, but on the other hand, do you really want Elements with it's poor (almost non-existent) 16-bit image support?
