Female Stonechat (one more added)

That's beautiful.

That is a stunner Denis, have been chasing one for quite a while if I can anything near half as good as that I would be chuffed

Great images. It's amazing what these birds can pack away food wise!!!!

2 lovely shots, have to echo what Graham said though, that is a very large bug it's swallowing

Are you sure that's a male???

Apologies John, you are correct

No need for apologies Denis - certainly not to me anyway.:D

Nice sharp images by the way. I got both male & female at the weekend (VERY similar shot with a green caterpillar too!!) but I was using the old 7D and a only a 300mm, so nothing like as good as these as I was too far away. I'll add her in here for a comparison if you wish? Trust me, she will make yours look even better!;)

Put it up John, it helps to be in the the right place at the right time, doesn't always happen that way.

It's a poor shot, focus is slightly off and it's cropped to hell because I was too far away, but here's the comparison:

Got the male too and although the focus is ok, I was still too far away and had to crop too much (I'm too used to having 1000mm to play with!):

The male is definitely the pick of the two Stan, but does the female shot look a bit on the warm side ?

Stan?

Neither of them are my pick Denis which is why they aren't shown on TP and I already know what's wrong with them. My old 7D only got used that day because it was already attached to the 300mm and I couldn't be bothered lugging the big boys with 5Diii's about while out with the dog. I just put these up here becasue the female was so similar in pose/food, to show the male/female difference and to make your excellent shots look even better!! :)
