Hi all,

first post so be gentle! Recently got a Canon 500D and just getting to grips with it. Using the kit lens at the moment but looking at others, particularly a 50mm f1.8 as I have a baby due in 3 weeks and want it for portrait shots.

Anyway, went on a photo trip on some local roads in my girlfriends Fiesta at the weekend. Taken in raw format and post-processed in Elements 6. Used a high pass filter on overlay to add sharpness.

Would appreciate any comments and constructive critisism, particularly composition as that's something I'm looking to improve on.

Certainly sharp but some of the backgrounds are a bit blown out and for me distract from the car.The harsh sun also doesn't help. The background is also a little bland, so why have it?Just having the fiesta badge and a little bit of car showing might have worked better.Perhaps a low down shooting angle would give a more dramatic affect and show off the lines better; taken at a higher angle just makes them a little snapshot like. The only shot that really stands out for me is the side on photo and the composition works well with more space above the car than below, but the tree at the top and black line below is also distracting.
