First Baby portrait

Hi guys this is my first post on here for what seems like ages now. Anyway I've been dusting off my old softbox to have a bash at baby photography as my daughter was born only last week.

This is the only shot I managed as she woke up just after I took the shot so will be re attempting over the weekend.

Would love to know your initial thoughts on the shot as feedback is always appreciated.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter she is adorable!
Only a novice but I think it would have looked better without the hat as it is a bit on the large size.
I am sure you will get lots of practice with your little bundle of love and I will look forward to many more

I'm no expert but for me i would have liked to see all the image without the edges of the blanket cut off, and i would clean up(clone out) the top left and right of the photo.

I like it though

Thanks guys. Yeah the hat is a little on the large size. We just adore it though haha.

As for clipping the edges of the blanket I agree it would have looked better with it all in the frame. Will have to get higher for the next shot.

congrats!
I think the white blanket and hat take away a lot from the image and my eyes go straight to them instead of the subject.
nice lighting btw.
