I've recently bought a new 70-300mm lens and fancied trying afew bird shots. I quickly came across this at the bottom of my garden and it stayed still long enough to get these 2 shots. Both shots were taken handheld at 300mm. Ive been thinking about purchasing a 1.4x converter, but im unsure how much it will hinder the IQ

Im a first timer, so please be nice .......ah what the hell 'gimme your worst' :D

I like #1 one best, great detail, shame about the leaves in the 2nd shot covering the tail, keep shooting those birds.

Some nice detail in both shots Chris  I would forget the converter if I were you, you would be up to f8 wide open so AF would be very sluggish at best and also IQ would take a big hit with your lens. BTW, if you do get a tc do not get a Canon as it will not even fit your lens.

agreed, slightly over exposed.. but nothing that a little PP wont fix easily.

love #1 great pose from a woody.. normally they just sit around looking fat... lol
