HI ALL

LOOKING TO BUY MY FIRST LENS FOR A D60 BUT DONT NO WHAT TO GET,I LIKE, BIRD PHOTOGRAPY AND PORTRAIT, ANY ADVICE ON WHAT WOULD BE A GOOD FIRST LENS

I would have though you would need a zoom lens for the birdies and a shorter one for portraits. You can get one that covers all, but I think you loose some of the optical quality.

Do you have any lens at the moment?

BTW your caps lock is on :)
 
Do you have a budget in mind? If you're serious about wanting to photograph bords, you'll need a focal length of 400mm or more, and that means ££££££££.
 
Not answering your question directly as with no budget it is hard to say.

Some to look:

35/1.8
55-200vr - not a birding lens but longer than you have
70-300vr - as above but longer still
Tamron 90 - believe there is a new version with motor that would work on your D60
