Studio First Newbron Shoot - CC please

  1. looks healthy but a tad too hot
  2. skin tones need tweaking I think BUT
    I was not there
… was it the real colour
    of the face?

There wasn't much PP to be honest, however a little bit of saturation and contrast was applied to the overall image. No local adjustments.

My point is that the skin tones of a newborn maybe
very pleasing… and sometimes not so. That's quite
normal!

Applying saturation and contrast is possibly not the
best PP strategy… but again, I was not there to see
how it looked.

If I could get a trying hand on the RAW, I could make
a suggestion.

I wouldn't mind that but how would I send it? Can you send big files via PM?

I love the hands holding one,
but the second is a bit ugh.

Hey, whatchagonna do ... newborns all look like Davros.

I don't think so!

…but if you give your email address (via PM)
I can create a Dropbox for you…

Then you will alerted via email that a sharing
folder was created. You then only have to drop
your file in there… you will be guided.
Very simple.

You'll rarely see newborn shots presented with the correct skin tones. If you are using LR then have a play with the saturation and luminance sliders. Pick the TAT (targeted adjustment tool) and certainly desaturate the red/yellow and probably a little orange sliders. By raising the luminance values you'll also brighten the skin tones. It's not too difficult but will look all the better for it.

Very quick edit, probably a little too much desaturation but you get the idea.

There lies the tale Shaun. In my experience, upping the contrast also affects the saturation.
When I up the contrast on an image my next step would be to reduce the saturation a little to compensate.
