This particular fly didn't appear to be fairing to well. It was very lethargic and initially when I went to photograph it on a fence, it flew off very slowly and landed on the window sill of our conservatory where it simply stayed. I could have easily gone and got the tripod but it was in my car :).

Quite a heavy crop of the above

Top shot mate, such amazing detail. Now off to google 'flesh fly' makes my skin creep just thinking about it

Thanks all :).

They're one of the most common flies you'll see in your garden. Probably about 1cm in length.

I have to admit, I wonder what must be going through it's mind as it's seeing multiple images of me pushing a camera in its face :)

Good detail in that, nice DOF overall. The crop is very good with good light and the white background suits the shot IMO.

The heavy crop is stunning, that Canon 100mm is one sharp lens. I've tried similar with a Sigma 105 and just not got anything like this.......but that could be down to me been useless!

Thanks again guys :)
